As a final exam for my Spring 2013 Publishing class, I created a mockup of a literary journal and a heavily researched proposal. I was required to pitch my journal to my professor (who was acting as a possible investor) in his office in order to convince him to fund my idea.
This was my professor’s feedback: “Your final exam was terrific, one of the best, if not the best. I was impressed with your thoroughness–from the written materials to the mockup to your oral presentation. It was clear that you’d carefully considered your idea and done your research, and then you presented an eminently viable proposal. I thought it was an assignment that showed just how capable you are not only as a student, but potentially as an editor of just such an endeavor.”
Below are images of my mockup.
